As we move forward into the future, we reflect on what has come to pass. You can see a picture of the red fountain as it stands now in this slide show around 0:19 (http://www.news.wisc.edu/slideshows/photos2009/). If you want to look back at the ages to see how far we’ve come, look http://www.engr.wisc.edu/studentorgs/enlight1/. I’m sure that the future will hold many more surprises for us.
Everyone loves treats for the holidays and Enlight is no exception. This year, the treat comes from the Alumni in the form of a brand spanking new server! With the updated hardware and upgrade to Win Server 2008 R2, we will be able to expand and make more software projects. This translates to better and cooler fountain code!
From everyone at Enlight, a big thanks goes out to the Alumni!
Wait… Where are the lights? OK, so the lights aren’t quite up a soon as we wanted and the code just recently got finished, but you really can’t blame us. It’s been, like, super cold and coding is really hard.
OK, fine so we dropped the ball, but it’s going to start getting cooler soon (no pun intended). Right now, we have some working prototypes that can turn on and off lights, and the code is currently being reviewed for bugs and the like. Hopefully, if all goes well, we will eventually have lights. Even if it takes us to the end of the year (fingers crossed).
It’s again that time of year in which we look back and see what we have all accomplished. We look at the friends we have made and the things we have learned. Of course, if you’re doing that, it probably means that you aren’t studying like you should be.
From everyone at Enlight, we wish you luck on your exams and we hope you have a relaxing winter break!
…I mean blizzard. Besides the bad weather (and lack of school on Wednesday and the fact that the wisc.edu site is currently using the “crisis” css sheet) everything’s not totally hosed. Right now there is code being updated for making the outside lights flash. Currently, we can have raves with the strobe effects and eventually we will be able to get them to fade in and out. The fountain code, on the other hand, does not include the flash feature. We are having some difficulty in setting up the lights control, but right now we can control up to 14 lights at a time. Eventually you too will be able to control the lights on the fountain from the kiosk in Engineering Hall.
And… SNOW DAY! YAY!
As we begin to roll into the snowy seasons, it’s time for us to put up our flashy, exterior, stranded, seasonal lights. We have a project in the works that will eventually string lights all around both the north and south ends. The lights will flash and fad in and out.
For your entertainment, here are the south end lights from last year.
